Personal Challenge: Day Two

So, this is my second day blogging and I am getting really excited about it. I think this is just what I needed to get my creativity flowing a bit more.

Today I took on Prisma pencils and odorless mineral spirits. In an attempt (albeit probably temporary) to find a less expensive alternative to Copics, I decided to invest in some Prismas. Being the completist (is that a word?) that I am, of course I opted for the Mack Daddy 132 set of pencils. It's really quite impressive and intimidating to look at all these pencils in the box. Anyway, I've seen a few tutorials online and decided to give it a go.

I started slow and simple. Can't get much simpler than this.

The stamp is a $1 stamp from Michael's. Cute, right? The cardstock is Papertrey (white and summer sunrise) and the patterned paper is A Muse yellow gingham. I need to find a better spot to take my photos because the colors look much darker than they are in person. I promise, that's Summer Sunrise.

Then, feeling pretty good about myself, I took on something a bit more challenging. I have quite a way to go when it comes to shading properly, but here's my attempt at taking my coloring to the next level.

The main image is Stampingbella and the sentiment is Close To My Heart. The cardstock is Papertrey (Spring Moss, Summer Sunrise and White). The tag is spellbinders, the ink is Memento, the ribbon is American Crafts. And of course, the pencils are Prismacolor. It's a little hard to tell in the pic, but I added some bling to the sun and the orange dots on the tree.

Now if only I could get those Copics out of my mind. They are SO pretty! (sigh.)
